Chris Geary Photography bio picture

Hello. I'm Chris, a thirty-something documentary wedding photographer based near Reading, Berkshire.

My passion is wedding photography. I love capturing the preparations, the anticipation, the sheer emotion of the ceremony, the first kiss, the laughter of the speeches and the beautiful first dance.

I've loved photography since I was a child. Back then I had a Kodak Retinette IB which I still have although it stopped working years ago. I bought my first film SLR back in 2001 and today I use Nikon D700 bodies with Nikkor 24-70/f2.8, 50/f1.4, 85/f1.4 and 70-200/f2.8 professional lenses. I also love travel photography and I've had the privilege to see some amazing parts of the world... Australia, Thailand, India and Africa to name a few.

I'm a movie and music lover, both of which seem to go hand in hand with a nice glass of wine. I love good food, my favourite of which has to be either Thai or Mexican.

Ten things...  1) I love walks in the country. 2) Chocolate is A Good Thing (TM). 3) Music needs to be heard and ideally felt. 4) I'm a little OCD at times. 5) Jack Bauer never goes to the toilet or charges his mobile. 6) David Palmer needs to be president for real. 7) Tom Yam Goong is amazing, if I had to choose only one thing to eat from now on, that would be it. 8) BT, Hybrid, Elbow, Angus and Julia Stone - all music gods. 9) I can't stand middle lane hoggers. 10) Life is short, embrace it, live it, and do things.

You may remember Delphine and Benjamin from Friday’s eShoot. They got married yesterday at the Sacred Heart church in Wimbledon followed by a reception at the Lansdowne Club in Mayfair. Summer returned for one day only on Saturday. We had glorious sunshine for most of the day, blue skies and pleasant temperatures. I started just...

Nicola and Mark – The Tithe Barn, Petersfield

This weekend I was offered the opportunity to shoot alongside the amazingly talented Rob Burress aka ShootingHip at the beautiful Hampshire wedding of Nicola and Mark. Needless to say I jumped at the chance. We started the day with the bridal party to capture the pre-wedding preparation and excitement. The house overlooked Portsmouth Cathedral, making...

Kate and Steve – Littywood Manor, Stafford

I arrived to begin the day with Kate and her family on Sunday morning to find a house of complete and utter calm. So calm was it from the outside that I had to double-check my address details. The bride-to-be was just getting started with her prep and as time went on the house began...

Erwan and Sarina’s Engagement

thumbnail

I was on a secret mission tonight, so secret that I wore a dark leather jacket and a black hat… I looked like a PI! Hidden behind a bush, I waited for Erwan and Sarina to emerge from the Watermill Theatre in Newbury during the interval. Unbeknownst to Sarina, a table with champagne chilling was...

Spring has finally arrived and the sun shone for Kate and Steve’s pre-wedding shoot at Littywood Manor in Stafford. The grounds are absolutely stunning and I just know that this is going to be a beautiful wedding. I had to work quickly as Steve was already on his stag do and left for an hour...

Shona and Ed – Esher, Surrey

thumbnail

A tin shack isn’t a typical church you’d normally find in England but this cosy church in Surrey was the venue for the beautiful wedding of Shona and Ed. Shona is originally from New Zealand so they chose it because it is reminiscent of the churches found there. I first went over to Shona’s house...
