Chris Geary Photography bio picture

Hello. I'm Chris, a thirty-something documentary wedding photographer based near Reading, Berkshire.

My passion is wedding photography. I love capturing the preparations, the anticipation, the sheer emotion of the ceremony, the first kiss, the laughter of the speeches and the beautiful first dance.

I've loved photography since I was a child. Back then I had a Kodak Retinette IB which I still have although it stopped working years ago. I bought my first film SLR back in 2001 and today I use Nikon D700 bodies with Nikkor 24-70/f2.8, 50/f1.4, 85/f1.4 and 70-200/f2.8 professional lenses. I also love travel photography and I've had the privilege to see some amazing parts of the world... Australia, Thailand, India and Africa to name a few.

I'm a movie and music lover, both of which seem to go hand in hand with a nice glass of wine. I love good food, my favourite of which has to be either Thai or Mexican.

Ten things...  1) I love walks in the country. 2) Chocolate is A Good Thing (TM). 3) Music needs to be heard and ideally felt. 4) I'm a little OCD at times. 5) Jack Bauer never goes to the toilet or charges his mobile. 6) David Palmer needs to be president for real. 7) Tom Yam Goong is amazing, if I had to choose only one thing to eat from now on, that would be it. 8) BT, Hybrid, Elbow, Angus and Julia Stone - all music gods. 9) I can't stand middle lane hoggers. 10) Life is short, embrace it, live it, and do things.

London

Mrs G. took me out yesterday for a surprise evening out. I had no idea where we were going just that it was in London. We wandered around for a while taking photos and then sat down to a sumptuous mexican meal at Wahaca. After several margueritas we found our way to the Royal Albert Hall where I was still none the wiser. Keily said “you still don’t know who we are seeing do you?”. A nearby tout muttered “any tickets for Snow Patrol”. I replied to Keily.. “yup.. I do now :D”. That guy couldn’t have timed it better!
It was a fantastic evening with Snow Patrol and here are some great shots I got earlier in the fading light of the day around London using my new Panasonic GF1. This camera is really impressive and I’m gonna love using it for days out like this…

November 27, 2009 - 23:10 Chris - Thank you both for your kind words :)

November 27, 2009 - 23:05 Liverpool Photographer Will - I think these photos of yours are a shining example of what the GF1 is capable of. Whilst I can see the appeal of such a camera system, I don't think my wallet's quite ready to feel the brunt of yet another system although I might keep an eye on the second-hand market ;) By the way, very nicely done!

November 27, 2009 - 10:00 Ven... :p - Whilst I have no intention of getting one of these, as I am deeply in love with my D-Lux 4 Safari, I have been watching the GF1 thread with interest. Your set is probably the best all-round results I have seen anyone post from the camera so far ! It certainly is impressive Chris and the images you have posted are really quality stuff... :-) ... like Robb says that Underground shot is brilliant but they are all sound. Rog... :p (AKA - Ven... :p)

November 27, 2009 - 08:46 Chris - Thanks Robb :)

November 27, 2009 - 08:44 Robb Edge - Love the 2nd shot of the Underground sign and Big Ben. Would make a cracking poster. Need to get out more with my GF1.
