The Nikon D700 has arrived!

So I decided to make the switch back to Nikon for the D700’s awesome performance at high ISO and its excellent AF system. Its quite a step forward from the 5D in almost every area notably the AF speed which is unbelievably fast with the Nikkor 24-70/2.8, the 51 million AF points and the 3D tracking. The image quality is excellent, at least equalling the 5D (which just goes to show how good it was back then!). I’ve never taken photos at anything above ISO3200 before and on the 5D it was ok but best avoided. The D700 is very usable at 6400, noise taking on a more film-like grain, especially in black and white. Here are a couple of shots of Keily with the new kit:

November 27, 2009 - 00:41 Liverpool Photographer Will - 51 million AF points? You must have got the souped up version ;) Yeah, the D700 is such a different beast from the 5D although I still reserve a special place in my heart for the 5D.
