Chris Geary Photography bio picture

Hello. I'm Chris, a thirty-something documentary wedding photographer based near Reading, Berkshire.

My passion is wedding photography. I love capturing the preparations, the anticipation, the sheer emotion of the ceremony, the first kiss, the laughter of the speeches and the beautiful first dance.

I've loved photography since I was a child. Back then I had a Kodak Retinette IB which I still have although it stopped working years ago. I bought my first film SLR back in 2001 and today I use Nikon D700 bodies with Nikkor 24-70/f2.8, 50/f1.4, 85/f1.4 and 70-200/f2.8 professional lenses. I also love travel photography and I've had the privilege to see some amazing parts of the world... Australia, Thailand, India and Africa to name a few.

I'm a movie and music lover, both of which seem to go hand in hand with a nice glass of wine. I love good food, my favourite of which has to be either Thai or Mexican.

Ten things...  1) I love walks in the country. 2) Chocolate is A Good Thing (TM). 3) Music needs to be heard and ideally felt. 4) I'm a little OCD at times. 5) Jack Bauer never goes to the toilet or charges his mobile. 6) David Palmer needs to be president for real. 7) Tom Yam Goong is amazing, if I had to choose only one thing to eat from now on, that would be it. 8) BT, Hybrid, Elbow, Angus and Julia Stone - all music gods. 9) I can't stand middle lane hoggers. 10) Life is short, embrace it, live it, and do things.

Sangeetha and Ravi, Claridges

thumbnail

October is the new August. It’s official. London. A Claridges wedding in warm 27c temperatures. Blue skies as far as the eye can see. This was going to be pretty epic. I arrived at 12pm to begin documenting Sangeetha’s bridal prep. I think it is fair to say that the Bridal Suite at Claridges is [...]

Jackie and Jonathan, Lansdowne Club

thumbnail

I was back in London yesterday for my third Lansdowne Club wedding this year. The day started out dry and sunny and promised to be overcast later. The weather gods had other ideas. We were pretty much rained in all afternoon although we did manage to find a break in the showers to step outside [...]

Olga and James, Northcote House

thumbnail

Olga is staggeringly beautiful. She works the camera like no-one else I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. The girl behind the image is equally beautiful too. She is full of enthusiasm for life and even though this was her wedding day, Olga made sure that everyone was taken care of. Smiles, laughter, love. Three words [...]

Delphine and Benjamin, Lansdowne Club

thumbnail

You may remember Delphine and Benjamin from Friday’s eShoot. They got married yesterday at the Sacred Heart church in Wimbledon followed by a reception at the Lansdowne Club in Mayfair. Summer returned for one day only on Saturday. We had glorious sunshine for most of the day, blue skies and pleasant temperatures. I started just [...]

Ella & David, Clock Barn

thumbnail

So. August. You might imagine that booking a wedding in August would guarantee you sunshine and warm weather. Well actually yesterday’s wedding was pretty much perfect. The sun shone and it was pleasant for the outdoor reception at the Clock Barn in Hampshire. It did rain but it was timed perfectly with the start of [...]

Hannah and David, Clevedon Hall

thumbnail

Wedding 2 this weekend was for the lovely Hannah and David over in Nailsea, near Bristol. I watched the weather on a bar TV at Claire and Kris’ reception and watched with horror as heavy rain was forecast for the Bristol area. Aside from a brief shower during transit to the church, thankfully it was [...]
