Chris Geary Photography bio picture

Hello. I'm Chris, a thirty-something documentary wedding photographer based near Reading, Berkshire.

My passion is wedding photography. I love capturing the preparations, the anticipation, the sheer emotion of the ceremony, the first kiss, the laughter of the speeches and the beautiful first dance.

I've loved photography since I was a child. Back then I had a Kodak Retinette IB which I still have although it stopped working years ago. I bought my first film SLR back in 2001 and today I use Nikon D700 bodies with Nikkor 24-70/f2.8, 50/f1.4, 85/f1.4 and 70-200/f2.8 professional lenses. I also love travel photography and I've had the privilege to see some amazing parts of the world... Australia, Thailand, India and Africa to name a few.

I'm a movie and music lover, both of which seem to go hand in hand with a nice glass of wine. I love good food, my favourite of which has to be either Thai or Mexican.

Ten things...  1) I love walks in the country. 2) Chocolate is A Good Thing (TM). 3) Music needs to be heard and ideally felt. 4) I'm a little OCD at times. 5) Jack Bauer never goes to the toilet or charges his mobile. 6) David Palmer needs to be president for real. 7) Tom Yam Goong is amazing, if I had to choose only one thing to eat from now on, that would be it. 8) BT, Hybrid, Elbow, Angus and Julia Stone - all music gods. 9) I can't stand middle lane hoggers. 10) Life is short, embrace it, live it, and do things.

Jackie and Jonathan

Another cool August day in London. Not so cool on the Bakerloo line which I can confirm was hotter than a McDonalds apple slice. I arrived at Berkeley Square, near the Lansdowne Club, for Jackie and Jonathan’s pre-wedding shoot. They both looked very stylish and I could tell this was going to be a good [...]

Catrina and Geoff

Yesterday I met up with Catrina and Geoff ahead of their wedding this coming weekend. 20 degrees it said on my dash but it was so windy it felt more like 10! Poor Catrina wasn’t enjoying the cold breeze. Middle of August! Would hardly believe it was summer. Anyway, I had them both in various [...]

Ella and David

In just a few weeks, Ella and David are going to be married at the Clock Barn near Whitchurch in Hampshire. I met up with them last weekend on a bright sunny Sunday for a pre-wedding shoot and a walk around the venue. Ella said she was very nervous and I can understand why. Two [...]

Summer was back with us on Thursday evening. I met with Claire and Kris ahead of their August Highfield Park wedding. At 8pm it was still 24c. Beautiful. Claire and Kris were great fun to work with and we had beautiful evening light to play with. Here are a few of my favourites from the [...]

Hannah and David

It was another hot summer’s day yesterday for my Oxford photography shoot with Hannah and David in the beautiful grounds of Worcester College. Staggeringly beautiful is the only way I can describe it. The grounds are private and only accessible to the students and teachers so it was a real privilege to be able to [...]

Katie and David

Phew… what a scorcher! I battled my way into London on Sunday during our short British summer heatwave to meet the lovely Katie and David. They’re getting married at All Saints Church in Fulham next month and I’m really looking forward to it! In stark contrast to the last time I shot in Bishops Park [...]
