I met Melissa and Phil at Dinton Pastures near Wokingham. Well, Hurst. We were blessed with warm temperatures and beautiful sunshine this evening. We walked around by the lake basking in the warm glow of the setting sun. Part way through the shoot, a woman was calling out for someone. A lost child maybe? I couldn’t make out the name. We continued as there was no sign of panic. Some minutes later, we returned to the same spot where a brown terrier looking dog raced along the path, presumably back to it’s owner. We followed as we were heading that way anyway. No owner was seen. Another dog walker appeared round the corner and it looked like they had been reunited but alas, no. We came to the conclusion that the dog was lost and was trying to find it’s owner. I asked Mel if she minded holding my camera a moment. After a few attempts, I managed to grab the collar and see if a phone number was there. Scooter and a mobile number. I rang it. Meanwhile I was getting eaten alive by mosquitos which I slapped to kill giving an already nervous Scooter a heart attack. I then had to console him and gently walk him towards his waiting owner. Sometimes I’m a photographer and porter. Other times photographer and driver. Today it was photographer slash pet rescuer.

Both couples are good friends, in fact they both booked me around the same time! Having rained all day on Saturday, I wasn’t expecting much better for Sunday but as it turned out we had glorious sunshine! I’ve never been to Regents Park before, it’s staggeringly beautiful. I’m very much looking forward to seeing you both again next Saturday. Here’s a preview from last weekend…

This was a last minute pre-wedding shoot but despite that, they were both remarkably chilled. Everything is ready for their London wedding in the morning. We met up near Green Park, wandered over to Liz’s place for tea and took some photos on the way. It was a lovely warm evening and the weather for tomorrow is looking really good. Welcome back summer :)

Not so cool on the Bakerloo line which I can confirm was hotter than a McDonalds apple slice. I arrived at Berkeley Square, near the Lansdowne Club, for Jackie and Jonathan’s pre-wedding shoot. They both looked very stylish and I could tell this was going to be a good one! We took photos in Berkeley Square, along Fitzmaurice Place, in Green Park (which was heaving with sun worshipers and the occasional drunk who thought it was “amusing” to pose with his arms open behind Jackie and Jonathan). Finally we ended up at Buckingham Palace, a place I haven’t seen properly since I was a small boy. It was a lovely evening with beautiful light in the city. I’m really looking forward to shooting their Lansdowne Club wedding next month.

Poor Catrina wasn’t enjoying the cold breeze. Middle of August! Would hardly believe it was summer. Anyway, I had them both in various settings where they could hold each other close, purely for warmth sharing purposes of course! Photographs were a by-product :D

I scheduled the shoot for early evening, so we might be lucky and have a sunset towards the end of the shoot. Yes it was chilly, yes it was breezy but we did have a glorious sunset to make it all worthwhile.

I met up with them last weekend on a bright sunny Sunday for a pre-wedding shoot and a walk around the venue. Ella said she was very nervous and I can understand why. Two big cameras in your face at 10am on a Sunday morning isn't usual! However, she quickly settled in and posed herself beautifully. Ella, you made it very easy for me, you're a natural! Staggeringly beautiful is the only way I can describe it. The grounds are private and only accessible to the students and teachers so it was a real privilege to be able to shoot there. Hannah and David both studied here until last year when they graduated. We walked around, chatted and took photos… my jaw was dropping at every turn. Just amazing. I’ve always wanted to see some of Oxford Uni and now I wish I could have studied there! Salford Uni isn’t quite up to scratch.

We started late to catch the late evening sun so it had cooled down a little from the scorching 30c daytime high but it was still pretty humid. Hannah did well to resist the temptation to push David into the lake, as I discovered is family tradition when one is near water. I’m really looking forward to shooting their Bristol wedding in August. For now, here are my favourites from yesterday’s shoot…

I battled my way into London on Sunday during our short British summer heatwave to meet the lovely Katie and David. They’re getting married at All Saints Church in Fulham next month and I’m really looking forward to it! In stark contrast to the last time I shot in Bishops Park when it was cold and empty, Sunday’s hot weather had brought everyone out to soak up the rays. 32 degrees of it! We spent most of our time together in shady spots, for photographic reasons and to keep cool. Bizarrely, there wasn’t an ice cream van in sight, however we made up for it by stopping by Gelato’s before saying farewell. I highly recommend the Menta flavour… real leaf peppermint in that, damn tasty!
