Chris Geary Photography bio picture

Hello. I'm Chris, a thirty-something documentary wedding photographer based near Reading, Berkshire.

My passion is wedding photography. I love capturing the preparations, the anticipation, the sheer emotion of the ceremony, the first kiss, the laughter of the speeches and the beautiful first dance.

I've loved photography since I was a child. Back then I had a Kodak Retinette IB which I still have although it stopped working years ago. I bought my first film SLR back in 2001 and today I use Nikon D700 bodies with Nikkor 24-70/f2.8, 50/f1.4, 85/f1.4 and 70-200/f2.8 professional lenses. I also love travel photography and I've had the privilege to see some amazing parts of the world... Australia, Thailand, India and Africa to name a few.

I'm a movie and music lover, both of which seem to go hand in hand with a nice glass of wine. I love good food, my favourite of which has to be either Thai or Mexican.

Ten things...  1) I love walks in the country. 2) Chocolate is A Good Thing (TM). 3) Music needs to be heard and ideally felt. 4) I'm a little OCD at times. 5) Jack Bauer never goes to the toilet or charges his mobile. 6) David Palmer needs to be president for real. 7) Tom Yam Goong is amazing, if I had to choose only one thing to eat from now on, that would be it. 8) BT, Hybrid, Elbow, Angus and Julia Stone - all music gods. 9) I can't stand middle lane hoggers. 10) Life is short, embrace it, live it, and do things.

Frozen Chineham!

Not quite as dramatic as “Frozen Britain” but anyway… Happy (if a tad chilly) New Year! I’m very much looking forward to 2010 and to the four weddings I have booked for the year so far. But before that, we have some snow and ice to contend with. Winter is quite possibly my favourite of [...]

Christmas 2009

thumbnail

Keily and I spent a wonderful white Christmas with her family up in Durham. It was nearly 4 days but it went in a flash! Good food, good wine and great company, what could be better?! We went out in the snow and took the dog for a walk which was amusing as she was [...]

Gridlock in Basingstoke!

thumbnail

A little snow, well, it was a reasonable amount actually, brought Basingstoke and other towns to a standstill. My journey from Bracknell, normally a 35 minute journey, took nearly 5 hours last night. I left at 2.30pm and got in just after 7pm. Beautiful as it was, being stuck in the car only 2 miles [...]

London

Mrs G. took me out yesterday for a surprise evening out. I had no idea where we were going just that it was in London. We wandered around for a while taking photos and then sat down to a sumptuous mexican meal at Wahaca. After several margueritas we found our way to the Royal Albert [...]

The Richards Families

thumbnail

A change of plan this weekend saw us in Birmingham with my sister and her gorgeous son for an impromptu photo shoot. Her brother-in-law’s family was also able to rearrange a few things and we had a great afternoon with the kids, some balloons and lots of coloured plastic balls! This was my first proper [...]

Ian’s Birthday

thumbnail

Went up to Durham to see my family-in-law this weekend and to celebrate Ian’s birthday. After a long 5 hour drive through rush hour traffic, rain and gales, we arrived just after 10pm. While the south was getting battered by the storms, we enjoyed nice, fresh and sunny November days in Durham. Later, we celebrated [...]
