Chris Geary Photography bio picture

Hello. I'm Chris, a thirty-something documentary wedding photographer based near Reading, Berkshire.

My passion is wedding photography. I love capturing the preparations, the anticipation, the sheer emotion of the ceremony, the first kiss, the laughter of the speeches and the beautiful first dance.

I've loved photography since I was a child. Back then I had a Kodak Retinette IB which I still have although it stopped working years ago. I bought my first film SLR back in 2001 and today I use Nikon D700 bodies with Nikkor 24-70/f2.8, 50/f1.4, 85/f1.4 and 70-200/f2.8 professional lenses. I also love travel photography and I've had the privilege to see some amazing parts of the world... Australia, Thailand, India and Africa to name a few.

I'm a movie and music lover, both of which seem to go hand in hand with a nice glass of wine. I love good food, my favourite of which has to be either Thai or Mexican.

Ten things...  1) I love walks in the country. 2) Chocolate is A Good Thing (TM). 3) Music needs to be heard and ideally felt. 4) I'm a little OCD at times. 5) Jack Bauer never goes to the toilet or charges his mobile. 6) David Palmer needs to be president for real. 7) Tom Yam Goong is amazing, if I had to choose only one thing to eat from now on, that would be it. 8) BT, Hybrid, Elbow, Angus and Julia Stone - all music gods. 9) I can't stand middle lane hoggers. 10) Life is short, embrace it, live it, and do things.

On the 12th January 2011, my second nephew, Liam, was born into the world. This weekend I visited my sister Anne and her husband to meet the new addition to their family. Just two weeks old and Liam already has amazing control over his head. I held him in my arms and he just lay [...]

New York City

Last week it was my father-in-law’s birthday. Let’s call him Ian for that is his name. My wife and I, along with a few other close family members, caught a flight to NYC to spend a few days in the city to celebrate Ian’s 60th birthday. He’s travelled other countries but somehow never made it [...]

Lake District

Last weekend Keily and I went away to the Lake District for a long weekend, stopping off in Stafford for Kate and Steve’s pre-wedding shoot. We had glorious spring weather in Ambleside and walked all day Sunday from Ambleside to Grasmere and back. Normally we drive around the lakes looking for photos to take but [...]

Les Gets 2010

Just got back from a superb week of skiing with friends in Les Gets, France. Its been 3 years since I had the old ski-boards out on the slopes, I’d forgotten just how excellent they are. Unfortunately my left knee is not so excellent these days and despite bracing it wasn’t too happy with the [...]

Snowy Chalgrove

Went to see my nephew, Jamie, this weekend and celebrate my Dad’s birthday. Oxford has about as much snow as we do in Basingstoke but the roads were clear enough so the journey was no problem. We took Jamie out on the sledge which he was somewhat reluctant to get on at first. Naturally, I [...]
