Chris Geary Photography bio picture

Hello. I'm Chris, a documentary wedding photographer based in Basingstoke, Hampshire. I'm in my mid thirties and happily married to my beautiful wife, Keily.

My passion is wedding photography. I love capturing the preparations, the anticipation, the sheer emotion of the ceremony, the first kiss, the laughter of the speeches and the beautiful first dance.

I've loved photography since I was a child. Back then I had a Kodak Retinette IB which I still have although it stopped working years ago. I bought my first film SLR back in 2001 and today I use Nikon D700 bodies with Nikkor 24-70/f2.8, 50/f1.4 and 70-200/f2.8 professional lenses. I also love travel photography and I've had the privilege to see some amazing parts of the world... Australia, Thailand, India and Africa to name a few.

I'm a movie and music lover, both of which seem to go hand in hand with a nice glass of wine. I love good food, my favourite of which has to be either Thai or Mexican. Bands that rock: Elbow, Coldplay and Snow Patrol.

Ten things...  1) I love walks in the country. 2) Chocolate is A Good Thing (TM). 3) Music needs to be heard and ideally felt. 4) I'm a little OCD at times. 5) Jack Bauer never goes to the toilet or charges his mobile. 6) David Palmer needs to be president for real. 7) Tom Yam Goong is amazing, if I had to choose only one thing to eat from now on, that would be it. 8) BT is my favourite musician. 9) I can't stand middle lane hoggers. 10) Life is short, embrace it, live it, and do things.

The Mears Family

The first of two photoshoots this weekend saw me in sunny Surrey with the Mears family. The boys are as cute as a button and eager to play. We got the coloured plastic balls out and they went absolutely crazy for them! After all their energy was spent, we grabbed some more relaxed shots…

London

Mrs G. took me out yesterday for a surprise evening out. I had no idea where we were going just that it was in London. We wandered around for a while taking photos and then sat down to a sumptuous mexican meal at Wahaca. After several margueritas we found our way to the Royal Albert...

The Richards Families

A change of plan this weekend saw us in Birmingham with my sister and her gorgeous son for an impromptu photo shoot. Her brother-in-law’s family was also able to rearrange a few things and we had a great afternoon with the kids, some balloons and lots of coloured plastic balls! This was my first proper...

Ian’s Birthday

thumbnail

Went up to Durham to see my family-in-law this weekend and to celebrate Ian’s birthday. After a long 5 hour drive through rush hour traffic, rain and gales, we arrived just after 10pm. While the south was getting battered by the storms, we enjoyed nice, fresh and sunny November days in Durham. Later, we celebrated...

Woodland Adventure

I went out with the Salter and Hayes families yesterday for a walk in the woods. We were so lucky with the weather; unseaonably mild, hazy sunshine and no rain! A stark contrast to today! The autumnal colours are perfect right now and the children were running around in the leaves, splashing in the muddy...
